Published : July 26, 2025
India is touring England in the summer of 2025 for a big Test series called the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy. After four matches, England is leading the series 2–1. The final and deciding Test will be played at The Oval.
1st Test – Headingley, Leeds (June 20–24)

In a rare chase of 371, England prevailed by five wickets. India looked set with centuries from Gill and Pant, but England’s lower order held firm under pressure. Veteran Josh Tongue triggered India’s collapse by cleaning up their tail. England took a 1–0 lead.
2nd Test – Edgbaston, Birmingham (July 2–6)

India delivered their strongest Test win on English soil—by 336 runs. Captain Gill shone again with 269, his highest Test score, while Akash Deep claimed six wickets and Siraj supported with key strikes to bowl England out twice.
3rd Test – Lord’s, London (July 10–14)

A thriller went England’s way by just 22 runs. India’s Jadeja battled with a 61* rescue stand, but young pacer Shoaib Bashi sealed the win with the final wicket. England now lead 2–1.
4th Test – Old Trafford, Manchester (July 23–27)
England moved within sight of a series win by dominating to 544‑7, a lead of 186. Joe Root scored 150, moving into second place on the all‑time Test run‑scorers list. Ben Stokes contributed with both bat and ball, reinforcing England’s control. India’s Pant retired hurt early on, which disrupted their momentum.
Series Status & Final Match
- Series standing: England lead 2–1 with one Test remaining.
- Captain Gill: Scored centuries in his first two Tests, showing early leadership potential.
- England momentum: Strong batting depth and home advantage under their aggressive “Bazball” ethos.
- India concerns: Pant’s injury, Siraj workload, and inconsistent pace attack raise questions ahead of The Oval decider.
What to Expect at The Oval (July 31–Aug 4)
The final Test could define this series. The Oval is known to favor spinners—could India leverage that? Or will England’s settled XI and rising confidence seal a home Test series win? Fans are in for a blockbuster finish.
